JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Freshman Mahina Leveau tied for second and the Panthers shot the low round of the day to finish tied for fourth at the Georgia State Invitational at Rivermont Golf Club on Tuesday.
Leveau, playing in just her fourth collegiate event, shot a final round 1-under 71, to finish at 4-under par, just one stroke behind low medalist Samantha Vodry of High Point who took home the individual title at 5-under par. Leveau’s three-round total of 212 is the fourth-lowest three-round score in school history and just two strokes behind the school record of 2010 set by Iliska Verwey at the 2008 Cincinnati Fall Classic.
It was Leveau’s third top 25 finish and second top 10 in four events this spring. The freshman has finished as the top Panther in three of the four events Georgia State has competed this year.
Georgia State’s final round 291 was the lowest round of the day, second-lowest of the tournament, and moved the Panthers up two spots of the leaderboard and into a tie with Little Rock. In a close tournament finish, Xavier took home the team title at 18-over par to earn a three-stroke win over Kennesaw State.
