KENNESAW, G.A. – Senior Ines Lescudier registered her season-best finish to lead the Kennesaw State women’s golf team to a runner-up showing at the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate over the weekend and earned Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Week accolades for her efforts, the league announced on Wednesday (March 18).
It is the senior’s sixth career A-Sun weekly honor and the fourth honor that the Owls have collected this season. Lescudier’s six Golfer of the Week awards are tied for third most in A-Sun history.
“Ines has been playing some great golf this spring,” said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. “She is currently ranked 108th in the nation and is on track to register a new KSU scoring average record. She played very well in Augusta and is deserving of this recognition. I am excited to see her game continue to progress through the remainder of the season.”
Lescudier shattered the season’s previous low individual 54-hole score with a two-under par 211 en route to a fourth place showing and did not record a score above par in three rounds at the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate over the weekend. She opened the three-day tournament with a one-under par 70, before carding an even-par 71 on Saturday and finishing with a second 70 on Sunday.
“I am obviously happy and proud to be named A-Sun Golfer of the Week,” said the Marseille, France native. “The past tournament was great for me and I was very satisfied to not have a single round over par. Being recognized like this is always appreciated and it makes me want to work harder and finish the season strong with my team.”
The senior then followed that up by tying for medalist honors in the Owls’ head-to-head tournament with Columbia on Tuesday with a five-over par 77 on the day.
For the year, Lescudier leads the Owls with a 73.32 stroke average and has posted the top finish for KSU in seven of eight events.
Lescudier and the Owls next travel to Ponte Verde Beach, Fla., for the Web.com Intercollegiate, hosted by Jacksonville at the Marsh Landing Country Club on March 30-31, 2014.
