Kennesaw State sophomore Ines Lescudier (Marseille, France / Tulane) added to her record-breaking month of April when she was named the 2012-13 Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Golfer of the Year, the league announced on Sunday.
Sophomore Kaew Preamchuen (Chachoengsao, Thailand / Datdaruni School) joined Lescudier on the five-person all-conference first team.
Lescudier capped an impressive regular-season by capturing individual medalist honors at the A-Sun Conference Championships on April 17. She concluded the tournament in spectacular fashion, carding a final-round 6-under par 66 that included a stretch of seven consecutive birdies en route to a 6-under par 29 on that back nine.
“It is particularly rewarding to have the very first Kennesaw state women’s golfer named player of the year,” Kennesaw State head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “Ines’ spring season was exceptional and to cap it off by winning the conference championship in the fashion she did proved she is well deserving of these honors.”
Lescudier also broke six individual championship records, including the low 18-hole score which previously was 67, low 54-hole score (210, previously 212), low 18-hole score vs. par (-6, previously -4), low 54-hole score vs. par (-6, previously -4), low third round score (66, previously 69) and the low final round by a winner (66, previously 69).
Preamchuen also recorded an impressive sophomore campaign as she posted a 75.4 scoring average and turned in four top 20 finishes, including two top 10 showings. Her best performance was a seventh-place finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic last October.
“I am very proud of Ines and Kaew for both being named first team all-conference,” Brinsmead said. “The awards are well deserved and anytime your peers recognize the accomplishment of your players, it is exciting.”
