SHOAL CREEK, Ala. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team tied for fifth place at the Shoal Creek Invitational that concluded Tuesday at the par-72, 7,300-yard Shoal Creek Country Club in Shoal Creek, Alabama.
The Owls concluded the 54-hole event with a 12-over par score of 876 after posting a final-round 7-over par 295. Texas A&M captured the team title with an 8-under par total of 856 to finish nine shots ahead of second-place North Florida (865, +1). Vanderbilt (867, +3) finished third, Ole Miss (870, +6) was fourth and Kennesaw State and Kansas rounded out the top five.
Junior Connor Coffee led Kennesaw State with a 1-under par 215 total to tie for seventh, one shot ahead of senior teammate Jake Fendt (216, E), who tied for 12th.
Senior Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres (222, +6) tied for 30th, while sophomore Brady Keran (227, +9) and senior Wyatt Larkin (229, +13) tied for 52nd and 59th, respectively.
Steve Fisk of Georgia Southern and North Florida’s Phillip Knowles shared individual medalist honors after finishing at 6-under par 210, one shot ahead of UNF’s Travis Trace (211, -5).
Kennesaw State is next in action Oct. 7 when it opens play at The Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove Golf Club in College Grove, Tennessee.
