COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team placed sixth at the Intercollegiate at The Grove that concluded Tuesday at The Grove Golf Club in College Grove, Tenn.
The Owls carded a final round 12-over par 300 to finish the 54-hole event with a 7-over par 571. ASUN Conference rival Liberty captured the team title with a 15-under par 849 total to finish three shots ahead of South Florida (852, -12).
“Today’s round had some of the toughest conditions and final-round hole locations we have seen all year,” head coach Bryant Odom said. “We finished on a strong note and never gave in during the day.
“I am proud of the effort and we will take a lot of positives from this tournament heading into our home event (Pinetree Intercollegiate) in two weeks,” Odom added.
Junior Connor Coffee concluded tournament play as Kennesaw State’s top finisher, tying for 19th with a 1-over par total of 217. Seniors Jake Fendt, Wyatt Larkin and Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres tied for 21st at 2-over par 218, while sophomore Brady Keran (228, +10) tied for 48th.
Freshman Justin Kim (244, +18), who was competing in his first collegiate tournament and as an individual, tied for 73rd.
Liberty teammates Gabe Lench and Alexandre Fuchs shared individual medalist honors, posting an 8-over par 208 to finish one shot ahead of two players.
Kennesaw State is next in action when it hosts the Pinetree Intercollegiate at Pinetree Country Club beginning Oct. 22.
