JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — This weekend at the 52nd Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate, Sam Karman led the No. 6 Oglethorpe men’s golf team to another successful finish as the Stormy Petrels landed fourth overall amidst nearly 30 competitors at Paradise Point Golf Club.
Karman (69-74-73) landed in sixth overall just four strokes off the lead. He started the weekend off strong, ending the first day’s action with a 3 under 69, including five birdies and a bogey-free stretch across nine holes. Karman also left his mark on the green by taking the lead in field for par 5’s.
Ryan Dunn (70-75-74) in 14th, Corbin Scott (76-75-71) and Jackson Hiller (73-72-77) both in 27th, and Beck Lewis (83-81-82) in 115th rounded out the scoring for the Stormy Petrels.
Dunn took off on Friday during the first round of the weekend with a total of four birdies. During that same round, he posted a bogey-free run from holes 7-18.
Scott ended on a high note during this weekend’s last round when he played 18 holes with just one bogey and two birdies. Hiller saw his tournament high on Saturday with four birdies and an eagle at hole 4, which was one of two eagles for Hiller, with the second seen during round three.
As a team, Oglethorpe finished fourth overall with rounds of 288-296-295.
