The Augusta State women’s team won a tournament hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss., posting a 7-over 871 total to finish three shots ahead of runner-up Kennesaw State.
Freshman Jessica Haigwood of Roswell earned individual medalist honors at 6-under 210.
The Lady Jaguars shot 286-295-290, leading after each of the first two rounds. Kennesaw shot 283 the final round to close the gap after trailing by 10 after 36 holes.
Haigwood shot 71-70-69 to lead Augusta, with Casey Kennedy tying for 4th at 215 and Eunice Yi of Evans T39 at 225.
Georgia State and Georgia hosted tournaments in early April, with Georgia State taking 2nd in the annual John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle’s Landing Country Club.
The Lady Panthers shot 891 to finish 15 shots behind Campbell. Kennesaw State and Mercer tied for 5th at 912.
Maria Palacios earned medalist honors for Georgia State, winning a playoff over Alpharetta’s Amira Alexander, one of four players from Georgia’s team who competed as individuals. Both players shot 2-under 214, with Alexander shooting 70 the final round after trailing by two after 36 holes.
Kaew Preamchuen of Kennesaw tied for 4th at 219, with Georgia State’s Lauren Court of Lawrenceville 7th at 221, including a second round 71. Mercer’s Lacey Fears of Bonaire closed with a 71 to tie for 8th at 222.
Georgia played its annual Liz Murphey Invitational under a different format, playing 18 holes of stroke play qualifying, then having the 16 teams divided into two brackets for three round of match play.
Georgia placed 11th of the 16 teams in qualifying at 308, with Manuela Carbajo Re carding a 71 to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Alexander was next with a 76. Georgia lost its opening match 3-1 to Troy and defeated Daytona State 3-0 before losing to Indiana 3-2 in its final match. Alexander went 2-1 in the matches.
