RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico. – The Augusta University women’s golf team made improvements on Tuesday at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and finished eighth out of 11 teams at the Rio Mar County Club Ocean Course. The Jaguars fired their low round of the tournament with a 16-over 300 in day three of the event.
Augusta finished 61-over par across 54 holes and four of the six Jaguars fired their best rounds of the tournament. AU was led by junior Cecilia Diez-Moliner. She tied for 16th (+14) with her low round of 75 and freshman Teresa Diez-Moliner took a tie for 26th.
Senior Maggie Ashmore signed for a 74 (+3) to take 36th and sophomore Charlotte Alran carded the best round for the Jaguars of the event with a 72 (+1). Alran tied for 40th at 21-over par, sophomore Linda Lundqvist finished 50th and freshman Nicole Page took 61st.
Fourth-ranked Arkansas remained on top of the leaderboard for the entire tournament and shot 882 (+30) to win. No. 26 Iowa State sealed second (+4), No. 22 Kent State took third (+45), No. 43 N.C. State fourth (+52), and No. 19 Colorado finished fifth (+55).
Augusta competes at the Moon Golf Invitational, hosted by Louisville, Feb. 19-20 in Melbourne, Fla., at Duran Golf Club.
