WEST LAFAYETTE, I.N. – The GRU Augusta Jaguars finished in in a tie for seventh with three teams in the field of 15 at their last regular-season scheduled event in The Boilermaker, hosted by Purdue, in West Lafayette, I.D., at the Kampen Course.
The Boilermaker marks the last regular-season event for the Jags before the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships on April 25-27 in Savannah, G.A., at Crosswinds Golf Club. GRU Augusta finished in the top 10 in all ten events of the 2014-15 season (five in the fall, five in the spring).
No. 6 Illinois ran away with the event after rounds one and two on Saturday (April 18th) and they didn’t let up to win the event at 35-under par. Louisville jumped to a second-place finish at three-under par, Northwestern took fourth at five-over par and No. 38 Ohio State rounded out the top five at seven over.
GRU Augusta slipped to seventh place after ending the opening two rounds in third, shooting 883 (+19). Robin Petersson paced the Jaguars again this season – placing just inside the top 20 in 19th place at two-over par. Petersson’s round-three 73 (+1) was his second-bets round of the event.
After both firing rounds below par in the opening day, sophomore Jake Marriott and junior Maverick Antcliff shot in the 80’s in the final outing. Marriott finished in a tie for 29th at five-over par- highlighted by back-to-back 70’s (-2) in rounds one and two. Antcliff finished in 42st place at eight-over par.
Sophomore Viktor Edin carded a tie for 44th at nine over after 54 holes and senior Cody Shafer was close behind at nine-over par in a tie for 59th for the Jaguars.
