ATLANTA, Ga. – Oglethorpe men’s golfers Jackson Hiller and Sam Karman have been named GCAA PING All-Americans, announced the GCAA Tuesday afternoon.
Hiller and Karman became the 36th and 37th all-Americans in the Oglethorpe men’s golf program’s illustrious history.
This is Hiller’s first All-American nod, after he was named to this year’s All-Region team. He finished T32 at the NCAA Championships and T4 at the Southern Athletic Association Championships. The rising junior was also named to the All-SAA first team, West Pines all-tournament team after medaling, and was a two-time SAA athlete of the week. Hiller finished the year ranked No. 22 nationally.
This is also Karman’s first All-American, after he finished T14 at this year’s NCAA Championships. This season saw tremendous improvement from Karman, as he steadily climbed leaderboards this spring. He was also named to the All-SAA first team, West Pines all-tournament team, and was a two-time SAA athlete of the week. The senior ended the season ranked No. 41 on the national scale.
The pair also became the 62nd and 63rd all-Americans in the history of Oglethorpe athletics, and the No. 6 men’s golf program has now produced 13 all-Americans in the last 10 years.
The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) annually awards PING All-American honors to players who showed high performance during the year and were either named to PING All-District teams or placed in the top 15 at the NCAA Championships. Together, Hiller and Karman led Oglethorpe to a runner-up finish at the Southern Athletic Association Championships and an eighth place finish at the NCAA Championships.
