SOORTS-HOSSEGOR, France — Georgia rising junior Harang Lee won the 65th annual Grand Prix des Landes in dramatic fashion on Sunday, July 26th, 2015. Lee carded a final round 4-under 66 at Hossegor Golf Club to finish tied atop the leader board and then won a playoff with Alexandra Moisand of France.
Lee, a native of Castro Uridales, Spain, entered the final round two shots off the pace of Elena Hualde Zuniga. She and Moisand, who shot 67 on Sunday, both ended up at 2-under 278, five shots ahead of the rest of the field.
Lee opened the 72-hole event with a 2-under 68 to grab a share of the first-round lead with Hualde Zuniga. She posted successive 72s in the second and third rounds, slipping to third and then fourth in the process before rallying on Sunday.
Lee’s title is the third victory in a significant major event by Georgia women’s golfers this summer. Incoming freshman Rinko Mitsunaga won the inaugural U.S. Women’s Amatuer 4-ball Championship in May and incoming freshman Bailey Tardy captured the 113th Annual North & South Amateur earlier this month.
Tardy also won a qualifying tournament for the U.S. Women’s Am at Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee, Ga. Monday, July 20th, 2015. Mitsunaga and former Bulldog All-American Emilie (Burger) Meason secured spots in the field for the Am at the same qualifier.
