NAPA VALLEY, C.A. – The GRU Augusta Jaguars finished eighth in the 15-team field after shooting 43-over par to end 18 shots off the lead at the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa North Course on Monday, April 13th, 2015, in Napa, Valley, California.
Hosted by the No. 32 University of Oregon and the No. 39 University of Colorado, the second-annual Silverado Showdown was decided by one stroke for team medalist honors. Oregon held off Oregon State to win their home event at 25-over par, while Oregon State finished second (+26), Colorado third (+27), Harvard fourth (+29), and Northwestern fifth (+31).
California’s Lucia Gutierrez won individual medalist honors, winning the event at four-under par.
The Jaguars were paced by Jessica Haigwood, who shot her low round of the event with a 74 (+2) to tie for 20th overall and finish nine-over par. Fellow sophomore Josefine Nyqvist was close to Haigwood with a tie for 22nd at 10-over par. Nyqvist posted two birdies in her third and final round and shot a 76 (+4), her second best round of the tourney.
Finishing tied for 29th with a round-three 76 (+4) as well, GRU Augusta’s Eunice Yi finished the event at 12-over par.
Teresa Caballer Hernani ended in a tie for 32nd with an even-par 72 in her last round – the low round for the Jaguars in all three rounds. Freshman Sonya Knebel tied for 62nd with her lowest round thru 54 holes, with a 75 (+3).
This marks the last scheduled regular-season event of the spring for the Jaguars.
