FERNANDINA BEACH, F.L. – Freshman Jemima Gregson shot a final round 75 to lead the Georgia State women’s golf to a 14th place finish at the third annual Amelia Island Invitational at Amelia National Golf Club (February 23, 2016).
Gregson’s 3-over final round gave her a tie for 26th place at 10-over par as she made a pair of birdies during the final round.
Georgia State shot a final round 319 to finish at 71-over after opening the event with rounds of 305 and 311.
“Scoring conditions were a little tougher today and the scores show that,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “However, we also made too many mistakes to give ourselves a chance today. We will get back to work and get ready to go to Kiawah later this week.”
Sophomore Yasemin Sari shot a final round 80 to tie for 38th and finish at 15-over par. Senior Julie Lied added an 81 on Tuesday to finish tied for 69th at 24-over.
Paula Zabarte and Solene LeCoz tied for 79th in the spring season opening event at 32-over. Zabarte shot 85 on Tuesday, while LeCoz added an 83.
North Florida earned a five-stroke win at 15-over par following a final round 300. Cincinnati finished second at 20-over, followed by Campbell and Kennesaw State tying for third at 31-over par. Bradley rounded out the top five at 32-over par.
Daytona State College’s Ji Sun Kang shot a final round 79 to hang on for a two-stroke win at 1-under par. North Florida’s Megan Wilshire finished second at 1-over par. A trio of golfers finished tied for third at 2-over, including Campbell’s Louise Latorre, North Florida’s Lauren Coe and Bradley’s Jenna Roadley.
