MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Led by a 1-under 71 from freshman Chloe Howard, the Georgia State women’s golf team shot a final round 305 to finish in 12th-place at the Charleston Invitational at RiverTowne Country Club on Tuesday.
Howard’s final round included two birdies and an eagle to leave her at 5-over par and tied for 20th in the 54-hole event. It is Howard’s fifth top 25 finish in nine tournaments this year.
The Panthers finished the two day event at 47-over par and will now spend a little less than two weeks preparing for the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
“Chloe played another great round of golf for us today to earn another solid finish for us this year,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “She leads by example and the future is bright for her.
“We would have liked to have had a better finish this week, but I think the second round showed this team what they are capable of on the course. Hopefully we can use that as motivation for the conference championship in a couple weeks.”
Senior Paula Zabarte added a final round 76 to tie for 34th at 9-over par, while sophomore Harmanprit Kaur also shot 76 and finished in 51st-place at 14-over par.
