STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. – Led by a final round 72 from Jemima Gregson, the Georgia State women’s golf team shot 307 to finish eighth at the 24th annual John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle’s Landing Country Club.
Gregson led the Panthers for the week with a tie for 20th at 11-over par after making five birdies during the final round.
Murray State claimed the team title following a one-hole playoff with Eastern Kentucky. Both teams finished at 24-over par for the 54-hole event.
Eastern Kentucky’s Elsa Moberly cruised to the individual title at 4-under par following a final round 73 to win by six strokes. She finished as the only golfer in the field under par.
Georgia State finished at 62-over par for the three days, earning wins over Sun Belt foes Appalachian State, UL Monroe and South Alabama.
“I would like to thank the volunteers, members and staff at Eagle’s Landing for everything they did to help us put on another successful event,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “We had a great few days of golf and I think all of the teams really enjoyed themselves.”
“We didn’t play our best this week, but I know we can use it as a learning experience going into our final regular season event. We will look forward to getting back on the course next week.”
Freshman Harmanprit Kaur tied for 37th at 16-over par following a final round 77. Redshirt-sophomore Emily Royer and senior Jooeun Bae tied for 39th at 17-over par. Royer shot a final round 81, while Bae shot 78. Senior Solene Le Coz rounded out the line-up tied for 52nd at 22-over par after a final round 80.
Three Panthers were also competing as individuals this week. Junior Paula Zabarte finished tied for 28th at 13-over par, shooting 79 on Tuesday. Junior Yasemin Sari shot a final round 81 to tie for 41st at 18-over par, while freshman Grace Choi finished 48th at 20-over par following an 81 on Tuesday.
Finishing third behind EKU and Murray State was No. 51 Kansas State which shot 26-over par for the event. Winthrop finished fourth at 43-over par, while Florida Gulf Coast rounded out the top five at 44-over.
Moberly earned the win with Eastern Kentucky teammate Sofie Levin coming in second at 2-over par. Tulsa’s Nadia Majidizadeh, Winthrop’s Julie Reinertsen and Murray State’s Lucila Puente Rodriguez tied for third at 4-over par.
Georgia State will return to action April 3-4 for the Web.com Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Fla. It will mark the final event of the regular season for the Panthers.
