ATLANTA – With practice and the start of a new semester just weeks away, Georgia State women’s golf head coach Jessica Steward announced the Panthers 2021-22 schedule on Thursday.
Play will get underway Sept. 4-6, at the USA Intercollegiate at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Course in Mobile, Ala. It will be the first of four fall tournaments and eight regular season events leading up to the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
For a sixth time in seven years, the Panthers will travel to Sarasota, Fla., for the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf Club, Oct. 16-18. Following a trip to the Little Rock Women’s Golf Classic at Diamante Country Club Oct. 24-26, the Panthers will close out the fall at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship Nov. 8-9.
“I’m really excited about this year’s schedule,” Steward said. “Every stop will provide our team with challenging competition, and we can continuously compare ourselves to the best teams in our region. We’re fortunate not to have to travel far to see strong teams and good weather, which is evident in our four trips to the Sunshine State. Our home tournament in March features a full field once again and will be a great way to cap off the regular season. We can’t wait to get the season started!”
The spring season gets underway with the first of two straight events in Florida. The Panthers will travel to Panama City for the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic Feb. 7-8, followed by the First Coast Classic in Jacksonville, Fla., Feb. 14-15.
Following five weeks off, Georgia State will travel to Gulf Shores, Ala., March 20-22, for the Bama Beach Bash at Gulf Shores Golf Club.
The regular season will come to a close at the Georgia State Invitational which returns to Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, March 28-29. The Panthers tied for fourth in their home event last year as Mahina Leveau tied for second place as a freshman.
The Sun Belt Conference Championship is once again scheduled for LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., April 18-20. The winner of the tournament will receive the conference’s automatic bid to NCAA Regional play which is scheduled for May 9-11 at four national sites this year.
The season will hopefully conclude at the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 20-25.
