ATLANTA, G.A. – The Georgia State men’s golf team will make its second-straight appearance in an NCAA Regional, traveling to Lubbock, Texas, as announced by the NCAA on Monday morning (May 4th, 2015) live on The Golf Channel.
The three day event will take place on the May 14-16 at The Rawls Course hosted by Texas Tech. This will mark the second-straight season the Panthers play in Texas for NCAA Regional play.
This is Panthers 12th time qualifying for NCAA Regional play since 1999 when Georgia State qualified for the first time. Last season, Georgia State finished second to Georgia at the NCAA San Antonio Regional, its best finish ever. The Panthers advanced to the NCAA Championship for the fifth time in school history, finishing 22nd.
The 13 teams that will make-up the regional include (in order of seed): Texas, Texas Tech, Auburn, North Florida, Cal, Houston, Louisville, Duke, SE Louisiana, Georgia State, UC Irvine and Charleston Southern.
Georgia State has qualified for the NCAA Championship five times, including last year. Before that, the last appearance came in 2007.
The top five teams and top individual not on one of those teams will advance to the national championship to be played May 29-June 3, in Bradenton, F.L., at Concession Golf Club.
