LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The Georgia State women’s golf team shot its best round of the tournament, an 11-over 299, to finish in 15thplace on Tuesday at the 41st annual FIU Pat Bradley Classic at Lakewood Ranch Golf Club.
The Panthers finished at 47-over par in their second-to-last tournament of the fall season.
Sophomore Chloe Howard led the Panthers with a tie for 33rd following a 4-over 76 in the final round. Howard finished the event at 7-over par.
“I’m proud that we shot our best score of the tournament today, but also disappointed that we didn’t finish higher up the leaderboard,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “I thought we did some good things this week, but there are areas that we have to become more consistent. We have a short turnaround but hopefully we can get that going on Friday.”
Junior Harmanprit Kaur, the lone upperclassmen in the line-up, added a 3-over 75 on Tuesday to finish at 11-over par and tied for 48th. Sophomore Petra Duran shot a tournament-low 73 in the final round to finish at 14-over par, tied for 55th.
Freshman Emma Berlin also saved her best for last, shooting a 3-over 75 in the final round to finish at 15-over par and tied for 61st. Freshman Maria Blasco rounded out the line-up in 76th place after shooting 82 on Tuesday and finishing at 27-over par.
UTEP earned the team title this year shooting a final round 3-under 285 to finish at 2-under par for the 54-hole event. South Florida finished in second place at 1-over par with host FIU coming in third place at 4-over par. Southern Miss finished in fourth place at 9-over par while Florida Gulf Coast rounded out the top five at 12-over par.
South Florida’s Natalia Villavicencio claimed low medalist honors following a final round 68 that left her at 7-under par for the three-day event. Gonzaga’s Quynn Duong finished in second place at 6-under par, while South Florida’s Jacqueline Twitty came in third at 4-under. UMKC’s Theresa de Bochdanovits placed fourth at 3-under par, while Southern Miss’ Valentina Haupt and FIU’s Hannah Leiner tied for fifth at 2-under par.
Georgia State will close out the fall season at the Alexa Stirling Women’s Invitational hosted by Louisville at Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek beginning on Friday.
