Led by freshman Jonathan Grey’s final round 68, Georgia State shot a final round 8-over 296 to finish in seventh in the 18-team Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon. Grey secured his third top 10 finish this season finished in seventh place. Grey has yet to finish outside of the top 20 in six collegiate tournaments.
Georgia State finished 36-over par for the 54-hole event.
“I thought Jonathan played some really good golf this weekend and never quit,” commented head coach Joe Inman. “As a team, we have a few things to work on, but we have a few weeks now before a stretch of three tournaments in 12 days. I think that stretch will go a long way to making our postseason aspirations a reality.”
Junior Grant Cagle finished tied for 20th. Junior Tyler Gruca finished tied for 37th. Gruca, who finished runner-up at Wexford last year, finished at 14-over this year.
