Atlanta, Ga. — Francisco Bide, Assistant PGA of America Professional from Capital City Club – Brookhaven won his 1st Georgia PGA Section event when he closed out fellow PGA Assistant Professional Anthony Cordes of Cherokee Town and Country Club in 21 holes of the Match Play Championship at Ohoopee Match Club.
Bide was the five seed in the 64 player field where he played 97 holes out of a possible 108 in three days on June 17-19. The tournament was presented by E-Z-GO, Global Golf Sales, and Philip Jones. Greyson, Pukka, and Winston Collection sponsored the tee gifts for the players.
Bide defeated Jacob Tilton, PGA of America Teaching Professional of Ansley Golf Club in the Semi-Finals by winning 1 UP to advance to the afternoon. Cordes defeated 2023 Runner-Up, Tim Weinhart, PGA Teaching Professional at Heritage Golf Links, 2 & 1 in his Semi-Final Match.
Defending champion J.P Griffin, PGA Teaching Professional of Capital City Club – Brookhaven, lost to Tilton 3 & 2 in the Elite Eight. For their efforts, Bide took home the first-place check of $2,800, while Cordes received $1,800 as the runner-up.
