GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Georgia College Golf program kept their second round status to finish the Bearcat Classic in third place, 12 strokes behind the victorious Lander University Bearcats. Georgia College finished seven shots behind the second place Newberry College Wolves and placed ahead of two Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools. Flagler College and the University of North Georgia finished in sixth and 14th respectively after the final round of play. The third place finish for the Bobcats bested their 2016 tournament results where they finished sixth.
The top-scorer for the Bobcats was senior Harry Lambert (Suwanee, Georgia) who shot his second 73 of the tournament to come in at a total of four-over par. Lambert’s late push earned him his second consecutive top-10 finish, concluding the tournament finishing tied for 10th.
Georgia College as a whole was very consistent as far as scoring, all finishing within three strokes of each other. Coming in behind Lambert was senior Conner Albright (Macon, Georgia) who shot a fantastic even-par 72 in his final round. His late effort moved him up into a tie for 13th on the leaderboard with a final score of five-over.
Next up for the Bobcats, just one stroke behind Albright at six-over par was senior Thomas Knight (Eastman, Georgia). Knight also had an exceptional final 18 holes carding a 72 to conclude his final regular season tournament.
Junior Thomas Hodges (Monroe, Georgia) slid down the leaderboard a bit in his final round after recoding a six-over par 78. Hodges cumulative score rounded out to seven over par, earning him a tie for 25th.
Rounding out the trip for the Bobcats was senior Harrison Stewart (Roswell, Georgia). Stewart scored a 76 in round one and came back with an even-par 72 in his second 18.
At the top of the individual leaderboard is Michal Pospisil, who blew out the competition after recording an impressive score of nine-under par with the runner-up Weston Bell of Anderson University going even par for the tournament.
