DAHLONEGA, Ga. – With three individual golfers finishing under par, the Georgia College Golf team finished ninth at the UNG Fall Invitational Tuesday. The Bobcats carded rounds of 289 and 284 to go with a 290 for one-under as a team.
This marks the first time the Bobcats had three golfers under par since last year’s UNG Fall Invite.
Senior Drew Duffie (Evans) was low man for the Bobcats today, firing a final-round 69 to go with yesterday’s 74 and 71 for two-under par. Duffie joined a Bobcat trio in 23rd place in the 82-golfer field.
Junior Alex Wells (Evans) had a 71 and 70 yesterday with today’s 72 on the par-72, 6,967-yard Achasta, by Reynolds course. Sophomore Bailey Scifleet (Canberra, Australia) owned rounds of 73 and 69 with an even-par 72 today.
Fourth on the team and 49th overall is sophomore Isaac Samples (Loganville) at five-over par. Samples posted a 76 today to go with 71 and 74 on Monday. Rounding out the scoring was rookie Mike Leanos (Kennesaw) owning 74th at plus-16 with rounds of 77, 79 and 76.
Carson-Newman University took the team title at 27-under par, six strokes ahead of Clayton State University. Individual honors went to CN’s Tom Forster at 15-under.
The Bobcats are back in action Oct. 14-15 at the Copperhead Championship in Tampa, Florida, hosted by the University of West Florida.
