MARIETTA, Ga. — Entries are now being accepted for the Centennial Amateur Championship, which takes place July 11-17, at Capital City Club-Brookhaven in Atlanta. This event is open to male amateur golfers who are GSGA members and Georgia residents.
The field will consist of 144 players. Non-exempt players must enter through one of 10 statewide 18-hole qualifiers. The format is match play preceded by 36 holes of individual stroke play qualifying. The low 32 players advance to match play. The criteria for exempt players and list of qualifying sites are both available here.
Stroke play will be held at Capital City Club-Crabapple in Woodstock, and match play will be contested at Brookhaven.
The GSGA celebrates its Centennial in 2016, highlighted by the 100th anniversary of the Georgia Amateur Championship. The inaugural event in 1916, won by 14-year-old Bobby Jones, took place in match play format on the Brookhaven course at Capital City Club. This year the format returns to its the original style to celebrate that milestone.
Eligible players must enter through the GSGA website (www.gsga.org). The deadline for entry is Wednesday, May 4.
