NASSAU, Bahamas – Led by a 2-under 70 from senior Josh Edgar, the Georgia State men’s golf team shot a final round even par 288 to finish in 13th place at the inaugural White Sands Invitational at the Ocean Club.
Edgar made six birdies during the final round and finished the 54-hole event at 4-over par and tied for 61st.
Fellow senior Ashton Poole led the Panthers with a tie for 40th at even par, shooting a 2-over 74 in the final round.
Georgia State finished the three-day event at 8-over par after rounds a 292 on the first two days.
“I was glad to see we played some better golf today,” head coach Chad Wilson said. “We didn’t make a single big number all day and made a bunch of birdies, we just made a few too many bogeys. We will now go into the offseason and work on some things to be prepared to make a run at conference in the spring.”
Senior Egill Gunnarsson shot a final round 1-under par 71 to finish the three-day event at 2-over par and tied for 52nd. Junior Owen Sertl added a 1-over par 73 on Sunday to finish at 5-over par and tied for 66th, while sophomore David Li shot a 2-over 74 and tied for 73rd at 9-over par.
Georgia State will return to the course to open the spring season Feb. 23-25, at the Puerto Rico Classic at TPC Dorado Beach.
