ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia golfer Caterina Don was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America At-Large team on Tuesday. With the honor, Don becomes the first Georgia Golfer to be named both All-America and Academic All-America in the same season since 1998.
The women’s At-Large team includes student-athletes from 12 sports – beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.
Don was a third-team selection among the 60 At-Large honorees and was one of only seven golfers recognized. She is just the fourth CSC Academic All-American in Georgia women’s golf history, joining Shannon Ogg in 2000 and Julia Boros in 1997 and 1998.
Don was named honorable mention All-America by both the WGCA and Golfweek after the 2023-24 campaign. She is the first Bulldog to be named both All-America and Academic All-America in more than a quarter century, since Boros in 1998.
A fifth-year senior from Pinerolo, Italy, Don received her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Georgia in May, graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.93. She was named to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team and the SEC Academic Honor Roll during each of her five seasons in Athens.
On the course, Don produced the fifth-best stroke average in school history last season, a 71.54 effort. She also recorded the fifth-most par-or-better rounds in a season, posting 21 such tallies over 37 rounds. Don notched seven top-10 and 11 top-20 individual finishes in 13 tournaments in her final season as a Bulldog, including a trio of runner-up efforts.
Don also was a leader within UGA’s student-athletes, serving as the female student-athlete representative on the UGA Athletic Association’s Athletic Board during the 2023-24 academic year and as vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) in 2022-23.
