Roswell, GA – Brian Corn of Peachtree Golf Club won the Georgia Section Callaway Golf PGA Assistant Championship Monday, August 22, 2011 at TPC at Sugarloaf in Duluth, GA.
By winning, Corn qualified for the 35th Callaway Golf PGA Assistant Championship, November 3-6, 2011 at the PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker Course) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its 16th consecutive PGA Assistant Championship.
Corn posted a final-round 69 for a tournament total of 6-under par 138 and a three-stroke victory over Bill Murchison of Towne Lake Hills Golf Club and David Potts of Country Club of the South. Corn posted 10 birdies over 36-holes on the par 72 course that played to 7027 yards. Murchison and Potts will join Corn at the National Assistant Championship in November.
John Duckworth of The Manor Golf & Country Club finished at 2-under par 142 to finish in fourth. Rounding out the top five was defending champion Tim Weinhart of Nuclear Golf at The Standard Club at 1-under par 143
The 120-man field for this year’s 35th edition of the PGA Assistant National Championship consists of the 2010 Champion, if eligible and the assistants from a weighted average of total entries of the 41 PGA Sections.
