St. Augustine, F.L. – After nearly four months since its last competition, the Columbus State University women’s golf team returned to the course on Sunday, February 8th, 2015 for the opening round of the World Golf Invitational. The two-day event was played at the Slammer and Squire Golf Course in St. Augustine, F.L.
Saint Leo sits in the top overall spot after a first round score of 297. Lynn (300), Flagler (302), Florida Tech (302) and West Florida (303) round out the top five.
Columbus State is in 17th overall shooting 376 in round one.
Courtney Lowery led the way for the Lady Cougars on Sunday. The sophomore fired a first round 80 putting her eight-over par and tied for 47th overall.
Senior Ciera Bagley is 14-over par following a first round 86. She will enter Monday tied for 77th.
Shelby Banta is three shots back of her teammate in 84th place. The freshman shot 89 in Sunday’s first round.
Playing in their first events as members of the CSU women’s golf team, Courtney Jacquay and rounded out the Columbus State team of five.
A member of the Lady Cougar soccer team, Jacquay was 49-over par in round one. Henthorn, a member of the CSU rifle team, finished at 88-over par in her first collegiate round.
Columbus State will wrap up play with the second round teeing off on Monday morning, February 9th, 2015.
