LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The No. 9-ranked Georgia men’s golf team finished sixth on Tuesday in the Southern Highlands Collegiate.
Playing Southern Highlands Golf Club’s par-72, 7,510-yard layout, the Bulldogs posted an even-par 288 to land at 16-under 848. Team honors went to Oklahoma at 38-under 826.
Junior Ben van Wyk paced the Bulldogs in the final round with a 2-under 70. Junior Nicolas Cassidy signed for a 1-under 71, followed by freshman Buck Brumlow at 1-over 73 and freshman Maxwell Ford at 2-over 74. Senior Trent Phillips had Georgia’s non-counting loop of 4-over 76.
Cassidy was the top Bulldog in the field at 4-under 212. Patrick Welch of Oklahoma claimed medalist honors with a total of 14-under 202. Ford finished at 3-under 213, Phillips and Brumlow landed at 1-under 215, and van Wyk posted a 1-over 217.
The Bulldogs will return to action March 20-22 in the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters Golf Club in Greensboro, Ga.
