PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — The No. 25-ranked Georgia men’s golf team finished seventh on Sunday in the season-opening event of the fall, The Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Bulldogs fired a final-round 1-under 359 on the par-72, 6,828-yard layout to finish at 4-under 1,076. Oklahoma State claimed the team title at 52-under 1,028, followed by Texas Tech at 38-under 1,042.
Senior Zach Healy was the top Bulldog in the field, taking 15th at 6-under 210, including a final-round 2-under 70. Texas Tech’s Hurly Long and Oklahoma State’s Hayden Wood shared medalist honors at 19-under 197. Freshman Davis Thompson signed for a 2-over 74 on Sunday and wound up 20th at 4-under 212.
Sophomore Spencer Ralston closed with an even-par 72 and finished at 3-under 213. Sophomore Trevor Phillips landed at 6-over 222 with a Sunday 1-over 73, while sophomore Will Chandler came in at 8-over 224, including a third-round 2-over 74. Junior David Mackey, who was unable to play Friday due to illness, shot a 2-under 70 and had a 2-day total of 1-over 145.
The Bulldogs will return to action Sept. 17-19 in the Golfweek Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
