DALLAS — Kennesaw State men’s golf had three players honored by Conference USA for their performance during the 2024-25 season.
Claes Borregaard was named the league’s Player of the Year and landed on the all-conference First Team. The senior had a team-best 70.73 scoring average this season and is the top-ranked golfer in Conference USA. He led the team with 18 rounds at par or better. He was KSU’s top finisher in eight events this season and ranked 97th in this week’s NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Ranking.
Borregaard, a Smorum, Denmark native, achieved the following highlights this season:
- Tied for the individual title with rounds of 73-73-72 for a 5-over total of 218 on a Par 71 golf course. He won the Pinetree Intercollegiate with rounds of 74-69-70 for a 3-under par total score.
- Tied for third at the J.T. Poston Invitational for a 5-under par total of 205.
- Finished fourth at the Steelwood Collegiate.
- Came in second at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate.
- Placed third at the CUSA Men’s Golf Championship. His finish at the Conference USA earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team.
“Conference USA Player of the Year is an amazing accomplishment for Claes and very well deserved,” head coach Bryant Odom said. “He’s super consistent and found himself in contention several times, including two medalist honors and five Golfer of the Week recognitions.”
Luca Gallingani was named CUSA Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the CUSA All-Freshmen Team. Gallingani played in 10 events and finished third on the team with a 72.50 scoring average. He played 14 of 30 rounds at par or better. He finished as the league’s highest ranked freshman at No. 461 in this week’s rankings.
Gallingani, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, achieved the following highlights this season:
- Tied for 24th in his KSU debut with rounds of 72-72-72 at the Southern Dunes Invitational.
- Tied for 12th at the Steelwood Collegiate at 5-under par.
- Tied for seventh at Palmas Del Mar Collegiate.
“Freshman of the Year is an incredible way to start a college career,” Odom said. “Luca has shown some elite talent this season and I’m excited for the next few years with him.”
Shaun Cook landed on the all-conference Third Team. The junior finished second on the team with a 72.03 scoring average in 10 events. He also played 14 of his 30 rounds at par or better.
The Norcross, Ga. native, achieved the following highlights this season:
- Tied for 12th at the Southern Dunes Invitational at 3-under par.
- Carded a 7-under par round of 65 to finish second at the Pinetree Intercollegiate.
- Finished tied for eighth at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational at 7-under par.
- Tied for 21st at the Conference USA Championship at 1-over par.
“Shaun is well deserving of an all-conference selection as he is a consistent leader on the course for us,” Odom added “I know he is working towards leading the team next year.”
