KENNESAW, Ga. – Claes Borregaard secured a spot in the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regionals, announced on GOLF channel Wednesday afternoon.
Borregaard is the second player in program history to qualify as an individual for an NCAA Regional.
The junior is set to play in the Chapel Hill Regional at the UNC Finley Golf Course on Monday, May 13 through Wednesday, May 15.
“What an incredible honor and opportunity for Claes to spot as an individual into the NCAA regionals,” head coach Bryant Odom said. “This is an award for his consistent play throughout the year and especially his strong finish to the spring. Claes has the game to make it through to the national championship and I know he will relish this event.”
Borregaard had a team-best 71.21 scoring average this season. He led the team lead with 17 rounds at par or better. The junior was KSU’s top finisher in six events this season and ranks 200th in this week’s NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Ranking. His ranking is good for sixth in the ASUN this season. He opened the season Allstate Streamsong Invitational with rounds of 71-71-71 for a 6-under total of 213 on the par 73 course. He finished fourth at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate at 10-under par 206 with rounds of 70-66-70. He tied for fifth at the ASUN Championship with rounds of 75-70-70 for a 1-under total of 215. His finish earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team. He collected ASUN Second Team All-Conference honors Monday.
The Kennesaw State men’s golf team won three tournaments and had nine top 10 finishes during the 2023-2024 season.
KSU finished the regular season with a sixth-place finish at the 2024 ASUN Championship.
