CARLSBAD, Ca. – Claes Borregaard was named a NCAA Division I PING All-South Region honoree by the Golf Coaches Association of America Saturday.
The senior holds a team-best 70.61 scoring average this season and is the top-ranked golfer in Conference USA. He leads the team with 21 rounds at par or better. He has been KSU’s top finisher in eight events this season and is ranked 62nd in this week’s NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Rankings.
Borregaard – a Smorum, Denmark native – achieved the following highlights this season:
- Tied for the individual title with rounds of 73-73-72 for a 5-over total of 218 on a Par 71 golf course at the Cullan Brown Collegiate. He won the Pinetree Intercollegiate with rounds of 74-69-70 for a 3-under par total score.
- Tied for third at the J.T. Poston Invitational for a 5-under par total of 205.
- Finished fourth at the Steelwood Collegiate.
- Came in second at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate.
- Placed third at the CUSA Men’s Golf Championship. His finish at the Conference USA earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team.
- Was named CUSA Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection.
- Tied for 2nd at the NCAA Auburn Regional at 8-under par 208 as an individual which advanced him to the NCAA National Championships.
Borregaard will tee off at 5:02 p.m. ET in round two of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships on Saturday, May 24th.
