KENNESAW, Ga. – Claes Borregaard and Hugo Lari were named All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Thursday.
To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Borregaard carries a 3.76 GPA in sociology. He played in nine events and led the team with a 71.70 scoring average. He recorded 17 rounds at par or better and was the Owls’ top finisher six times this season. He tied for third at the Tiger Invitational at 4-over 220. The Smorum, Denmark native posted one of his best finishes at the ASUN Championship where he carded rounds of 75-70-70 for a 1-under par total of 215 finishing tied for fifth. He earned All-Tournament honors for his performance.
Lari holds a 3.73 GPA in management. He finished third on the team with a 72.76 scoring average in 11 events. He played 16 of his rounds at par or better He posted six top 25 finishes. His season-best performance came at the Pinetree Intercollegiate where he carded rounds of 74-71-72 for a 1-over par total of 217.
The four selections mark the 15th consecutive year that at least one Owl has been honored with this award.
