GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Georgia College Golf wrapped up its final tournament of the regular season Tuesday, finishing 18th at the 2019 Bearcat Classic, hosted by Lander University. The Bobcats carded rounds of 300 and 296 yesterday with a 301 today for plus-33 on the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.
Sophomore Daniel Davis (Columbus, Georgia) nabbed his second-straight top-25 finish, taking 23rd in the 110-golfer field. He fired a 73 today with yesterday’s 71 and 74 for two-over. The 218 was his third lowest three-round score this season.
Second on the team and 58th overall was freshman Isaac Samples (Loganville, Georgia). The rookie slid a bit with a 77 today, but combined that with yesterday’s 76 and 72 for nine-over par. Samples’ three-round effort of 225 marks his lowest of the spring season.
Junior Drew Duffie (Evans, Georgia) took 73rd at 12-over, carding counting rounds of 75 and 74 and then a 79 today. Duffie’s three-round score was his lowest of the spring. Freshman Hilton Beck (Macon, Georgia) was plus-22 with an 82 sandwiched by two counting 78s.
The Bobcats finished just three strokes out of a tie for 15th between Barton College, Erskine College and the University of West Georgia. No. 11 Lincoln Memorial University took the team title at three-under par, the lone sub-par team in the field. No. 8 Young Harris College was the other top-25 squad in the tourney, owning eighth place.
LMU’s Dan Bradbury took individual medalist at eight-under, followed by Georgia Southwestern State University’s Vincent Norman at six-under.
