AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Led by a pair of top-20 finishers, the Georgia College Golf squad took 10th at the Jay Jennison Cup, hosted by Flagler College. Both Daniel Davis (Columbus, Georgia) and Alex Wells (Evans, Georgia) finished inside the top-20.
Davis carded rounds of 71, 77 and 78 at The Palencia Club, a par-72, 7,073-yard course. Davis finished eight over in 15th, leading the Bobcats in his first tournament of 2019-20.
Wells posted a 76 with a team-low 73 in the second round, then finished today with a 77 for 10-over in 19th place among the 75-golfer field.
Third on the team and 29th overall was sophomore Isaac Samples (Loganville, Georgia). He shot a pair of 78s yesterday and added a team-low 75 today for plus-15. Freshman Michael Zachary (Johns Creek, Georgia)posted a 79, 78 and 80 in 52nd at 21-over, while senior Drew Duffie (Evans, Georgia) was plus-24 after rounds of 79, 83 and a counting 78 today.
The Bobcats finished at plus-52 with a 304 in round one being their best effort. The finish is a one-slot improvement over the previous visit to the Jennison Cup in 2016.
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, Sept. 30 at the UNG Fall Invitational in Dahlonega, Georgia.
