PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Valdosta State golf team closed out competition with an eighth place finish at the Argonaut Invitational in Pensacola, Fla. on Tuesday.
The par 72 course at Pensacola Country Club saw the host West Florida Argonauts claim the top finish with an 18-under 558 score over the course of the two round tournament, which was reduced by one round after a surge of inclement weather on Monday.
Valdosta State benefited from a pair of solid performances by both Matt Anderson and Eli Hendricks, who each claimed an overall score of 2-over 146. Hendricks’ first round was the Blazers’ top single-round effort, which scored at even par 72, while Anderson delivered a 1-over 73 in both the first and second rounds. The duo finished tied for 15th out of 78 participants.
Other contributors for Valdosta State included Davis Roche, who posted an overall score of 5-over 149, after bouncing back from a 5-over round one score with an even par in round two. In addition, Jake Harpe delivered an overall score of 7-over 151.
