AUGUSTA, Ga. – In the National Letter of Intent (NLI) early signing period, the Augusta University women’s golf team gained incoming freshmen Linda Lundqvist from Sweden and Charlotte Alran from Switzerland for the 2016-17 season.
“I am very excited to add Linda and Charlotte to our team in 2016,” Head Coach Caroline Hegg said. “Linda had a very strong summer playing competitively in both Europe and the USA. She has great power and natural talent and as a member of the Swedish national team, she has been able to compete against the best competition. That is very important to a player’s ability to step into college golf effectively as a freshman.”
Lundqvist, from Stockholm, Sweden, is a member of the Swedish national team and is the fourth ranked Swede in her age division. She plays for Bro-Balsta Golf Club and attends the Swedish national golf high school in Uppsala. Most recently, Lundqvist finished 29th in the 2015 Annika European Championship and she placed 23rd in the 2015 AJGA Thunderbird International Junior event.
“Charlotte has only been on the international scene for a couple years, but she has already established herself as one of the best players in Switzerland,” Hegg said. “Both of these women will be a big part of the Augusta women’s golf future. I can’t wait to get them on campus in the fall.”
Charlotte Alran, from Lausanne, Switzerland, is a member of the Swiss junior national team. Alran finished second at the 2015 Swiss Ladies Championship and she carded third at the 2015 Swiss Junior U18 Championship. Playing overseas, Alran made match play of the British Girls Championship in both 2014 and 2015.
