SAN MARCOS, Tx. — After the opening round of the Southland Conference Championship, the Augusta women have the lead by six shots with an automatic spot in the NCAA golf championship on the line. The Jaguars Zoe Pinillos is the only golfer under par at two-under and has a two shot lead. Lamar is currently in second place with Texas A&M Corpus Christi in third. Two golfers will have to finish up their opening round tomorrow morning.

Pinillos started strong making birdies on three of the first four holes and five of the first seven. The sophomore from Peru added two more birdies on the back nine and had four bogies for her total score of 70.
Sara Adams is four shots back after shooting 74. Adams had one birdie and three bogies on her round She registered 11 pars in her first 12 holes with a bogey on her sixth hole of the day.
Marine Legentil is in 11th place with a round of 75. Legentil carded three birdies in her round.
Rounding out the team scores was Jessica Pilgrim who shot 76 on the day. Pilgrim’s score was the best she has registered on the year.
All four AU golfers are in the top 16 heading into Tuesday’s second round.
