ORLANDO, F.L. – The Augusta University men’s golf team placed 10th after all 54 holes of play at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational in Orlando, F.L., at Isleworth Country Club on Tuesday afternoon (October 20th, 2015).
The Jaguars, ranked No. 32 by Golfstat.com, finished in 10th place in the 15-team field that had five teams ranked in the top 20 in the nation and eight teams ranked in the top 40.
The Jags posted their lowest round as a team in round three with a 295 (+7). No. 3 Illinois overtook No. 10 Arizona State and No. 15 California to win the team title at one-over par.
Behind No. 3 Illinois in first, No. 10 Arizona State took second, No. 15 California third, No. 17 Vanderbilt fourth, No. 23 Florida, and No. 16 North Carolina tied for fifth, North Florida and Texas Tech tied for seventh, No. 26 South Carolina earned ninth, No. 32 Augusta 10th, UNLV 11th, New Mexico 12th, Ohio State 13th, UCF 14th, and Washington State 15th.
Turning in his second-consecutive, even-par 72 in the tourney, senior Robin Petersson paced Augusta again after round three and finished the event two-over to place in a tie for 11th. Junior Viktor Edin earned a top-20 finish over 54 holes and carded a one-over 73 in round three to end four shots over par and take a tie for 16th.
Sophomore Broc Everett shot his low round of the tourney with a 73 (+1) to put him nine-over par after all three rounds. Everett tied for 37th and junior Jake Marriott placed in a tie for 44th – carding a 77 (+5) in his last round. Emmanuel Kountakis produced his best round with a 78 (+6) in round three and placed 74th individually.
This is the third time this fall that Petersson has paced Augusta. The Jaguars conclude play for the fall at the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic, hosted by Charleston Southern, on Nov. 1-3 at Turtle Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.
