EDMOND, Okla. – The Augusta University men’s golf team competed in their final regular-season tournament of 2017 at The Maxwell on Friday and Saturday and the Jaguars tied for 10th with No. 25 Colorado in the 14-team field.
Hosted by Oklahoma State and the University of Oklahoma, The Maxwell commenced with a 36-hole shotgun start in day one on the par-70, 7,102-yard course and concluded with the final round on Saturday. The tournament featured 14 teams with seven teams ranked in the top 50 including the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the nation.
No. 2 Oklahoma State won the tournament nine shots over par and No. 48 New Mexico and No. 12 Oklahoma tied for second. UCLA’s Hidetoshi Yoshihara won the individual title one-under par.
The field included No. 47 Augusta, No. 3 Baylor, No. 28 Colorado, East Carolina, No. 48 Liberty, Memphis, No. 49 New Mexico, North Texas. No. 14 Oklahoma, No. 2 Oklahoma State, SMU, UCLA, UTSA, and Wichita State.
Augusta sent junior Broc Everett, seniors Emmanuel Kountakis, Viktor Edin, Jake Marriott, and freshman Gustav Andersson to compete. After 36 holes in day one, Augusta was in eighth place and they finished the tourney 46 shots over par.
Everett finished tied for 16th six shots above par, Kountakis was 11 over to tie for 33rd, and Andersson and Marriott tied for 54th 15 shots over par. Edin earned a tie for 69th (+20).
