GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Augusta University women’s golf team played its first tournament of the season at the Lady Paladin Invitational Sept. 21-23 and finished in fourth place at Furman Golf Course.
Hosted by the Paladins at the Furman Golf Course, the Jaguars teed off with the 16-team field on the par-72, 6,278-yard course on Friday. AU sent senior Cecilia Diez-Moliner, sophomore Teresa Diez-Moliner, senior Maggie Ashmore, and juniors Linda Lundqvist and Charlotte Alran for the starting lineup.
Augusta was in fifth place after round one and improved and stayed at fourth after the second round of 18 holes to end the event 15-over-par. Alran and Ashmore each tied for 20th (+3) to lead Augusta. C. Diez-Moliner finished just outside of the top 25 at 4-over-par to take 26th. Lundqvist tied for 39th (+8), T. Diez-Moliner 57th (+11), and sophomore Nicole Page tied for 78th as an individual.
The Jags return to play Oct. 8-9 at the Illini Women’s Invitational, hosted by Illinois, at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill.
