AIKEN, S.C. – The Augusta University men’s golf team finished the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational in fourth place out of 18 teams on Tuesday at Palmetto Golf Club.
No. 16 Clemson overtook No. 3 Virginia and won the tournament at five-under par (835). Virginia finished four-under par in second and No. 39 South Carolina snuck past the Jaguars to take third place five shots above par.
Augusta began day two in third place out of 18 teams and carded an even-par 290 to finish in fourth place at eight-over par. Junior Broc Everett paced Augusta for the second-straight tournament and finished one-under par to tie for seventh.
Senior Viktor Edin shot his career-low score in day one with a 65 and posted a 71 (+1) and 75 (+5) to take a tie for ninth (+1). Senior Jake Marriott earned a tie for 16th, senior Emmanuel Kountakis a tie for 18th, and senior Cooper Brown and tie for 61st.
Virginia’s Derek Bard won the individual title six-under par (69, 65, and 70).
Competing on the par-70, 6,617-yard course is Akron, Augusta, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Presbyterian, South Carolina, USC Aiken, USC Upstate, Temple, Virginia and Wofford.
The Jags head to the Linger Longer Invitational, hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer, from March 19-21 at Great Reynolds Plantation in Eatonton, Ga.
