GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Augusta men’s golf team fired one of the best rounds of the entire tournament and finish in eighth place of the Linger Longer Invitational at The Landing Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. Georgia was the team winner followed closely by Alabama with South Florida finishing third.

On the day, Augusta was 17-under par, third best of the entire round, and moved up four spots on the leaderboard. Stefan Jacobs and Bo Blanchard II led the way with Jacobs registering a 66 on Tuesday and Blanchard a 68 as both finished in the top 20 with Blanchard 12th.
Jacobs made five birdies in his first nine holes of the day and then recorded an eagle and two more birdies on his second nine. He did have three bogeys, but still turned in his best round of the year for the Jaguars.
Blanchard had a clean scorecard for the most part, with five birdies and just a single bogey.
Behn Heyns also fired a 68 in the final round with six total birdies and a pair of bogeys. His final nine holes featured a clean card with no bogeys.
Dean Wilken was the story early in the day. Wilken came out on fire and made five straight birdies to start his round. He had one more birdie and a bogey before making the turn. Some late bogies derailed his round, but still shot a 69, good enough for a top 50 finish on the individual front.
Pieter Rossouw Jr. had three birdies to go along with four bogeys and shot 73 on the day.
Playing as an individual,Chapman Barnett started the final round in a tie for eighth place, but only had two birdies on the card to go along with three bogeys for a 73. Still, Barnett finished in 25th place, his best showing of the year.
Augusta will next head to Palm City, Florida for the Valspar Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Houston.
