ORLANDO, Fla. – The Augusta Jaguars finished ninth at the 2016 UCF Challenge in the 18-team field at Eagle Creek Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon (February 9th, 2016).
The Jaguars were 33 strokes over par after shooting a 300 (+12) in the final round, their second-best round of the three-day event on the par-72, 6,349-yard course.
No. 42 Houston won the tournament at 21-over par, Tulane took second (+22), No. 25 Missouri third (+26), No. 39 Texas fourth (+27), and No. 36 East Carolina, and No. 15 Iowa State tied for fifth. Full scoring here.
Jags junior Josefine Nyqvist finished five-over par to tie for 11th overall after shooting a 79 (+3) in round three. Nyqvist recorded the low round of her collegiate career with a 68 (-4) in round two on Monday, Feb. 8.
Sophomore Sonya Knebel snagged a top-25 finish by turning in her low round of the event with a 72 (E), recording one birdie and bogey on the day.
Juniors Eunice Yi and Jessica Haigwood each placed in a tie for 33rd at 10-over par. Haigwood was plus three through her first three holes, but fired three birdies on her back nine to shoot even-par 72. Yi carded a 77 (+5) in the final 18 holes and sophomore Lexi Bollant took 91st with an 83 in the third round.
Augusta heads to Grande, Puerto Rico for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Purdue, Feb. 14-16 at the Rio Mar Country Club River Course. The first two rounds begin at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start, followed by a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start for round three Feb. 16. Live scoring is available at BirdieFire.com.
