ATLANTA, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced its 10-member Women’s Golf All-Conference team Friday and a pair of Kennesaw State Owls found a spot on the list.
Tai Anudit and Meva Schmit, who both completed their first seasons donning the Black and Gold, took home all-conference honors.
“Although our season was cut short, we had many highlights throughout the fall and spring. Tai and Meva were a huge part of this success and I’m very pleased for them to earn this,” said Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead.
Anudit was the top-ranked golfer in the ASUN. The junior’s adjusted scoring vs. par was 1.48 and had an average score was 73.14. Her top finish was her last tournament, when she tied for third in helping lead KSU to a tie for seventh at the Dr. Donnis Invitational in Hawaii. The Phitsanulok, Thailand native was a shot away from a playoff for first place. She had nine rounds under par with eight at par or better, and was a unanimous selection.
“Tai was clearly the number one player in the ASUN, and was on track to earn Player of the Year honors. She finished the season on a high note with a third place finish in Hawaii and was really hitting her stride. I’m excited to see just how good she can be next season and beyond.” said Brinsmead.
Schmit was the ninth ranked player in the ASUN. The freshman had a 2.70 score adjusted vs. par and an average score of 74.40. The Bali, Indonesia native’s best showing was when she was named the ASUN Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after her first collegiate tournament. At the Golfweek Conference Challenge, she tied for eighth with a 211.
“From the first round Meva played as an Owl in Colorado, she was impressive and she didn’t let up,” said Brinsmead. “The learning curve to college golf has been a smooth one for her and I look forward to another four years of watching Meva represent KSU and set records!”
