AUGUSTA, GA – On Monday, Sept. 21, Roger Tant broke the course record at Green Meadows Country Club after shooting a 58 and may have broken a golf record by shooting this score at 64 years of age.
Tant plays in a men’s senior group that meets a few times a week, and also does ball proto-type testing as part of Team Titleist. On Monday, he started the round shooting two consecutive birdies on holes two and three, and then made a 24-foot shot for an eagle on hole five.
He could tell the round was going to be special after finishing the front nine. Continuing with his outstanding play, Tant made four more birdies and began thinking about breaking his record of 60.
After a beautiful shot for eagle on the 17th hole, Tant made par on hole 18 and broke his record by two points, shooting an incredible 58.
“I have shot several 60’s in my life but could never break that magic number until Monday,” Tant said.
