ALBANY, Ga. – Sonny Skinner from River Pointe GC won the 2016 Doublegate Senior Classic played February 22nd & 23rd at Doublegate Country Club in Albany Georgia. Sonny shot rounds of 66 and 68 for a 10 under par total to win the Georgia PGA Seniors’ Division event by 4 strokes. The highlight of the tournament was a hole in one by Sonny on the 175 yard 11th hole on day one, the 19th hole in one he has made. Glen Herrell form Doublegate CC and Mark Anderson of Brunswick Country Club took 2nd at 6 under par for the event. In the Professional 60 and over Division Ted Meier of Newnan CC took first place and Gordon McIntire from Mystery Valley GC was first place for the 65 and over Super Senior Pro Division. Donny Phillips was overall Low Amateur at 5 under par, Dave Nichols won the Amateur Super Senior Division at 4 over par.
Georgia PGA Seniors’ Division events, which are sponsored by Cosamin ASU, are open to 50 and over amateurs and Georgia PGA Professionals. These are scratch events with separate Pro and Amateur Divisions, age Divisions for Pros, handicap Divisions for the Amateurs and also Pro and Amateur Super Senior Divisions.
