With the completion of regional tournament play Saturday, the 30 teams and six individuals in the field have been determined for the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, and host team Georgia Tech and its rival Georgia will both be in the field when play begins May 28 at the Capital City Club’s Crabapple Course in Milton, Ga.
The 7th-ranked Yellow Jackets will be making their 26th appearance in the finals, all but one of them since 1985, while the No. 15 Bulldogs, national champions in 1999 and 2005, are in the finals for the 44th time. Defending national champion Texas, ranked No. 4 nationally, and 2012 runner-up Alabama, ranked No. 2, both advanced along with top-ranked California, No. 3 UCLA, No. 5 New Mexico, No. 6 Washington, No. 10 Florida. Notable teams which did not advance were No. 8 Stanford and No. 9 Duke, the ACC champion.
The 75th edition of the national championship takes place over six days, beginning May 28 when the 30 teams battle in 54 holes of stroke play, 18 holes each day over three days, followed by three days of match play competition culminating in the national championship match Sunday, June 2.
Ticket books for the full tournament, all six days, are $50 for adults and $35 for youths (18 years of age and under, or college student with current student ID) and seniors (55 and up). Daily tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youths and seniors. The field for the NCAA championship was filled by the top five teams advancing from each of six regional tournaments taking place around the country this weekend. Here is the entire field, listed in their order of finish by regional. The number in parentheses is how many NCAA finals appearances that team has made. The 30 teams in the field have combined for 30 national team titles in the 75-year history of the championship.

Playoffs were needed to decide the fifth and final qualifying spots in two regionals – Tallahassee, where Oklahoma needed one hole to beat South Florida, and Pullman, where Ball State eliminated San Diego State on the first hole of sudden death.
The format for stroke play is each team fields five players, with the low four scores each day counting toward the team score. After 54 holes on Thursday, May 30, the individual national champion will be crowned, and the top eight schools in terms of team score are seeded for match play competition beginning Thursday, May 31.
In team match play, each of the five players on a team plays a match against a counterpart on the opposing team. Each individual match is worth a point for his team, and the team with the most points after the five matches are completed advances to the next round. Quarterfinals matches are set for Friday, May 31, with semifinals on Saturday, June 1, and the championship match Sunday, June 2.
